Milwaukee Wave News Release

MILWAUKEE, WI (March 27, 2007) -- The Milwaukee Wave's 13-year run of playoff soccer remains in limbo with two games remaining. If the team successfully qualifies, there will be one MISL semifinal game at U.S. Cellular Arena on the weekend of April 13-15.

But while we wait, we're making it easy and affordable for fans to get a great seat to whatever playoff game we earn at home. There will be only one game at The Cell, and you can reserve a seat now for just $10. Here's how it works:

Call (414) 224-9283 and hold the tickets with a credit card. We'll print and mail the tickets, but not charge the credit card until the Wave have clinched a playoff spot. Most likely, our game will be at 6 p.m. April 14, but again, that is not yet confirmed. If we don't get in, fans won't be charged and the tickets can be tossed.

Keep this in mind - once a date and time is confirmed, tickets can be purchased through Ticketmaster and the Wave box office, but for regular prices. So act fast - the risk is even lower than the price!

When will we know if and when the Wave are in? Maybe Saturday afternoon. Maybe Saturday evening. Maybe not until Easter weekend. Here's how the MISL race breaks down:

Detroit is already in the playoffs. California is out. This is the schedule for everyone else:

PHILADELPHIA (16-12): @ Baltimore this Friday, vs. Detroit this Saturday

CHICAGO (15-12): vs. Baltimore this Saturday, @ Detroit this Sunday, vs. Milwaukee April 7

BALTIMORE (15-13): vs. Philadelphia this Friday, @ Chicago this Saturday

MILWAUKEE (14-14): @ California this Saturday; @ Chicago April 7

Now for the scenarios from the Wave's perspective:

IF THE WAVE WIN BOTH GAMES

It's still not a done deal. It's possible that Milwaukee, Baltimore, Philadelphia and Chicago all could end the season with 16-14 records. The tiebreaker for multiple teams is head-to-head in all games involving tied teams - but only to determine the first entrant. That puts Baltimore on top with a 10-8 mark against the others. Then the head-to-head would be re-figured with the remaining teams to find the next team in. Everyone remaining would have 9-9 records with everyone else, so the next tiebreaker is point differential against all the other teams - which won't be determined for good until the results are in.

It's also possible that Baltimore, Philadelphia and Milwaukee could finish in a three-way for third place tie at 16-14. Point differential again would be the criteria.

IF THE WAVE SPLIT THEIR GAMES

Don't give up hope yet. It's even possible that Saturday's game in California would be the chance to clinch. For that to happen, Baltimore would have to lose Friday against Philadelphia and Saturday afternoon at Chicago. That would leave the Blast at 15-15. Because the Wave have the tiebreaker advantage over the Blast, Milwaukee would need only to match their record to earn a bid.

Milwaukee can also get in at 15-15 by losing to California then defeating Chicago, but the Storm would have to drop their last three games.

IF THE WAVE LOSE BOTH GAMES

Well, it was fun while it lasted.
