MILWAUKEE (Feb. 26, 2009) - The Milwaukee Wave professional indoor soccer team visits the Wisconsin Dells Center (WDC) at Chula Vista Resort on Wednesday, March 4 for a special exhibition game against a local all-star team.
Kickoff is at 8 p.m., following the conclusion of the championship game in the WDC league. The game will be played in a format similar to the XSL, with five players to a side plus a goalkeeper, but without boards. The Wave's opponent will be a multinational all-star team. Admission is just $3 and there is no fee to park. Purchase tickets at the door of the WDC.
"We are trying to expand the brand of the Milwaukee Wave and Xtreme Soccer League around the state of Wisconsin," said Keith Tozer, head coach and vice president of soccer operations for the Milwaukee Wave. "Not just the game of indoor soccer, but the summer camp program and the Xtreme Soccer Xperience. This is a great opportunity for us to get into another part of the state and play at a facility that has one of the premier waterparks in North America."
Four-time league champions, the Wave are 7-5 in the inaugural season of the XSL, heading into Saturday's 6 p.m. match at the Chicago Storm. The Wave are a multinational team themselves, with players from Brazil, Argentina, Holland, Ghana, Poland and Canada. For more information on the Milwaukee Wave, visit milwaukeewave.com
