Milwaukee Wave News Release
MILWAUKEE, WI (April 3, 2007) - The last time the Milwaukee Wave were on national TV, they triumphed in a thrilling sweep of Cleveland in the 2005 MISL Championship Series. Both games went to overtime, with Johnny Torres scoring to win the first game in front of nearly 7,000 fans at the U.S. Cellular Arena. Todd Dusosky did the same one week later in Cleveland to clinch the Wave's fourth title.
On April 14, the MISL's flagship franchise again will be the host to national TV cameras, as Versus network visits for a 3 p.m. kickoff in the Wave's MISL Semifinal game at "The Cell."
The opponent will not be determined until this Saturday, when Milwaukee visits Chicago at 1 p.m. Based on that outcome, the Wave will either host Chicago in Game 2 or Detroit in Game 1. A tie in either series results in a one-goal, sudden-death "mini-game" to be played immediately following the end of Game 2.
"Fans in Milwaukee have supported the Wave for almost 25 years, and helped make us the premier indoor soccer franchise in North America," said Mike Lafferty, chief operating officer of the Wave. "We need you, on April 14, to show the league and the country that Milwaukee can step up and support their winning teams better than anyone else."
Group ticket pricing of $10 per seat is available by calling the Wave office at (414) 224-9283. If you've never been in the stadium when a national TV broadcast takes place, don't miss your opportunity to feel the rush and get behind the four-time league champion Milwaukee Wave.
