Wave Looking for Payback against Arch-Rival Baltimore Blast Saturday Night
February 15, 2018 - Major Arena Soccer League (MASL)
Milwaukee Wave News Release
The 2017-2018 MASL Central Division Champion Milwaukee Wave have had a lot to think about after suffering their first home loss of the season last week in dramatic fashion to Baltimore. They are angry, focused and ready once again to take on the arch-rival Blast Saturday night, 7:05pm CST at UW-Milwaukee Panther Arena.
"The guys want to get back out there and play so bad," said Milwaukee Wave Head Coach Giuliano Oliviero. "Emotionally, I think they are chomping at the bit to play them (Baltimore) again. They put the work in and fought each other all week. But now, they're ready to fight the Blast on Saturday. Our goal is to get it right this weekend."
Last week, the Wave lost to the Baltimore Blast in the final seconds of the game, knocking the excitement out of the entire arena.
"The second half did get away from us on Saturday with the possession and playing the short passes," said Milwaukee Wave Forward Daniel Mattos. "We continued to work on breaking on the pressure, because Baltimore does a great job of pressing us. It wasn't anything that we didn't expect, it was that we just didn't do a good job handling it. They capitalized on those moments, but we had a good comeback. Sadly, it was decided in the final seconds. We're confident in game plan this week and look forward to playing our game. That's the most important thing."
Milwaukee Wave Midfielder #26 Ian Bennett on the week at practice...
"It's been a good week. I think all of us are a little frustrated, because when you come back to tie the game and then end up losing in the last few seconds, it's tough to lose in that fashion. It does something to your domineer and confidence as a team, but we're getting back to our way. Hopefully, we can put on a good show on Saturday and come away with the 'W'."
