Milwaukee Wave News Release
(Milwaukee, WI) - The Wave extended their winning streak to a franchise record 12 games last weekend with games against Chicago. Since starting the season 1-2, the Milwaukee Wave have won 12 games and look to continue that streak this week against Wichita and Chicago.
The team played back to back games against Chicago last weekend. Last Friday in Chicago, the winning streak looked like it may end with the Soul up 6-2 in the fourth quarter. However, the Wave rallied with five goals in the final quarter en route to defeating the Soul 12-6. Back at home on Saturday was a different story as the Wave took control early and continued to play strong to get a 9-5 win. Jonatan Santos, Ian Bennett, Giuliano Oliviero, and Hewerton all contributed to the scoring. Unfortunately the Wave lost Santos for the season as he suffered a tore ACL later in the game.
The Wave (13-2) head on the road Thursday to Wichita as they take on the Wings (6-10). The Wave has faced the Wings twice this season beating them in the team's opener and New Year's Eve game. In the first matchup the Wave defeated the Wings 12-4 behind goals by five different players, including two by Hewerton. In the second meeting Tenzin Rampa got the scoring early for the Wave, and a goal by Luan Oliveira would put the Wave up 4-0 at half. Goals by Frederico Moojen and Andrew Hoxie would tie the game in the third quarter, but Oliveira came back with his second goal to take a 6-4 lead into the fourth quarter. Miguel Ferrer tied it early in the fourth, but three point goals by Jonathan Greenfield and Israel Sesay gave the Wave a 12-6 win.
The Wave travel back home for their game against the Soul (7-11) on Sunday at 3 pm at the U.S. Cellular Arena. The two teams have faced off four times already, with the Wave coming out on top in each.
On Saturday, The Children's Hospital of Wisconsin (http://www.chw.org) is the BMO Harris Bank Jersey Program charity for the game. The game will be sponsored by El Rey Foods, Lamers Bus Lines, and WKLH. Special ticket packages available for Faith & Family Night and Hispanic Night. Fans can also take advantage of a special Chipotle dinner and a game. It includes four burritos, sodas, and game tickets For more information on tickets visit www.milwaukeewave.com or call 414.224.9283.
