Wave Game Preview
December 29, 2018 - Major Arena Soccer League (MASL)
Milwaukee Wave News Release
The Six-Time Champion Milwaukee Wave, the only undefeated team in the Major Arena Soccer League, are looking to keep the streak alive this Monday, December 31st, 3:05pm at UW-Milwaukee Panther Arena against division foes, the St. Louis Ambush.
"The New Year's Eve game has turned into great Wave tradition and always has an electric atmosphere," said Head Coach Giuliano Oliviero. "It ranks right up there with a home opener or a playoff game and the players never want to disappoint."
The Wave welcomes a restacked St. Louis Ambush team for the 18/19 season with re-signed veteran defender Chris Mattingly, Brazilian midfielders Mario Marcos and Felipe Dos Santos Silva and returning for his final season as player / Head Coach former Milwaukee Wave player Hewerton.
"The Ambush have really turned it around," said Oliviero. "They have some wins to show that they have improved as a team and organization and we know they are looking to spoil the party on New Year's Eve. We just have to continue to focus on our game and make ourselves better. We're ready for the battle."
Tickets are still available for purchase online at MilwaukeeWave.com or at the UW-Milwaukee Panther Arena Box Office before the game.

Head Coach Giuliano Oliviero on being the only undefeated team in MASL...
"It's a nice accomplishment and great incentive to keep pushing ourselves to remain undefeated. The team is training at a high level and they've done great in games but if we're dangling that carrot of staying undefeated along the way, it might just give us that extra motivation that we need in a tight game."
Forward / Team Captain #26 Ian Bennett on stepping up...
"Obviously, I love to score goals but right now it's all about the team, togetherness and winning. We're putting more emphasis on that this season and as team captain, I have to lead through example and play both side of the ball, defense first."
Assistant Coach Marcelo Fontana on team's work ethic this season...
"The team certainly has a chip on their shoulder after being eliminated in the playoffs the past two seasons but with that comes experience. The guys are taking a little more pride in their play this season and making sure they play to one another's strengths. It's a fun group to work with but we have to keep working to reach our ultimate goal, another championship."
