Milwaukee Wave News Release

The 7-Time Champion Milwaukee Wave returns to action against the Orlando SeaWolves Saturday night at the Silver Spurs Arena in suburban Kissimmee, Florida.

Kick-off is scheduled for 6:05pm CST

"It was good to be on the bye week with no games to play," said Milwaukee Wave Head Coach Giuliano Oliviero. "We do have some players battling some injuries and we're not forcing anyone back prematurely but some players will be seeing their first action with the team on this trip and we're really excited for them."

The Wave are coming off a 2-1 start on the season with their last game played nearly two weeks ago, Sunday, December 8th, a win against the St. Louis Ambush. While the SeaWolves are on a 4-game losing streak and still looking for their first win of the season.

"We want to see what some of our new guys can do," added Oliviero. "They've been training very well and we want to see what a young midfielder like Dani Morillo is capable of. He'll be getting his first opportunity. As will Matthew Yang. He (Yang) was part of the championship team last season, battling day in and day out for a game day jersey. He never got one but he showed up everyday and pushed the guys to be at their best. They will both be out there with a lot of veteran players that will help them along the way."

Morillo, a Waukesha, Wisconsin native knows how big of an opportunity this is for him.

"I'm beyond excited to play," said Morillo. "I grew up watching the Wave and some of the veteran players on our team. If I don't understand a play or certain set up, they are always wiling to share their knowledge. It's not only to make me a stronger player but to make us a stronger team."

Yang, a Minnesota native, in his second year with the Milwaukee Wave added, "A good thing I picked up from our former captain Tenzin Rampa was persistence. Tenzin told me last season that no matter what happens, if I see the playing time or not, you've got to keep grinding and putting in the work. That struck a chord with me and is something that I've used as my mantra ever since. I'm excited and a little nervous for this opportunity but am ready to help my teammates on Saturday."

You can follow the action at MASLSoccer.com and on all Milwaukee Wave social media channels.

The Wave returns home on Tuesday, December 31st for the annual New Year's Eve game against one of the newest teams in the MASL, the Mesquite Outlaws.

Kick-off is scheduled for 3:07pm from UW-Milwaukee Panther Arena.
