MILWAUKEE (Sunday, March 20, 2005) – The Milwaukee Wave increased its first place lead in the Major Indoor Soccer League, defeating the St. Louis Steamers 6-4 in front of 5,701 fans at "The Cell," U.S. Cellular Arena. Greg Howes had two goals and two assists to lead the Wave, and Todd Dusosky collected the game-winner at the 13:14 mark of the third period. With the win, the Wave improves to 20-11, while the Steamers fall to 16-15. The Wave also takes a one-game lead (4-3) in the season series with the Steamers.

The Steamers got on the board first in the opening period with a goal by D.J. Newsom off the cross from Mariano Bollella at 4:17. Milwaukee's Greg Howes (11:23) stole a Steamers pass, dribbled in and passed the ball to himself off the boards for the goal past Steamer's keeper Brett Phillips.

Howes (0:51) collected his second goal of the match to give the Wave a 2-1 advantage early in the second period off the pass from Todd Dusosky. St. Louis answered with an unassisted goal by recent acquisition Chile Farias at 11:08. The Wave started out the third quarter with back-to-back goals by Santos, Brazil native Hewerton to take a two goal lead at 4-2. The first goal came off a restart at 3:13 as the forward took the cross from Howes. The second goal came just more than two minutes later as Marcelo Fontana fed Hewerton the ball for the score at 5:38.

The Steamers were able to battle back to cut the Wave lead to 4-3 with a goal by Bollella at 10:52 off the assist from Randy Soderman. The Wave responded with a goal as Howes found Todd Dusosky at the top of the arc for the score at 13:14.

The Wave capitalized on a St. Louis tripping penalty by Marco Lopez midway through the final period, as Giuliano Oliviero slid the ball to Michael King at the mouth of the goal for the power-play score at 6:45. The Steamers collected a sixth attacker goal at the 13:35 mark as Farias found Lopez for the score past Wave keeper Nick Vorberg. However, it was the only offense the Steamers could muster in the final period, preserving a 6-4 Milwaukee win.
