Force streaks past Comets into third place, 7-5

CLEVELAND, OHIO - The Cleveland Force played host and defeated the Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL) Kansas City Comets by a final score of 7-5 at the Wolstein Convocation Center.

With the victory, the Force won their season-high fifth straight game and moved to within a half game of second place and is alone in third place in the MISL Standings. Cleveland improved to 16-13 overall, 10-7 at home, 3-2 in the season series and 39-41 all-time versus Kansas City teams. With the loss, the Comets fell 12-18 overall and 6-10 on the road.

The Force opened the scoring (1-0) when forward and team captain John Ball connected on the power play goal off the cross from defender Genoni Martinez at 12:20 of the first quarter. Cleveland added to its lead (2-0) when Adauto Neto tapped in a cross from forward Sipho Sibiya at 12:43. The assist marked the 450th career point for Sibiya. The Force kept things rolling (3-0) when Ball stole the ball at the yellow line and went the length of the field and scored his second goal of the game at 13:37.

Cleveland opened the second period scoring (4-0) when Sibiya knocked in the pass off the boards from defender Ryan Hall at 8:57. Kansas City finally got on the board (4-1) when defender Vlatko Andonovski scored the unassisted power play goal at 10:54. The Comets cut further into the lead (4-2) when forward Ibrahim Kante hit a toe poke to the far post and in at 14:46. The Force closed out the first half scoring (5-2) when midfielder Gary DePalma scored the restart goal off the boards from Ball at 14:53.

Cleveland opened the second half scoring (6-2) when Sibiya nailed a shot off the rebound shot off midfielder Robbie Aristodemo at 9:55 of the third quarter. Kansas City cut back into the lead (6-3) when forward Armando Valdivia had the ball bounce off him and into the net off the cross from Kante at 11:00. The Force responded (7-3) when Hall connected on the restart off the second assist of the game for Ball at 12:19.

The Comets opened the final quarter scoring (7-4) when Stefan Stokich buried a shot from the left corner off the assist from Andonovski at 2:02. Kansas City closed out the scoring (7-5) when midfielder Justin Evans scored with the sixth attacker on as his shot bounced off defender Matt Johnson into the back of the net at 13:19.

The Force will have next travel to the City of Brotherly Love to take on to the MISL second place Philadelphia KiXX in the final regular season meeting between the two squads on Saturday, March 26.
