Watson and Herauf Added to Roster

Oklahoma City, Okla. - The Oklahoma City Blazers of the Central Hockey League signed forwards Ryan Watson and Brad Herauf, the club's front office announced today.

Watson, a 6-3, 200-pounder from Lethbridge, Alberta will be skating in his second season as a professional and second with the Blazers. Last season, Watson was the team's ninth leading scorer with 30 points (15-15-30) despite only playing in 54 games.

Herauf skated last season with the Battlefords North Stars of the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League. The 5-11, 195-pounder from Regina, Saskatchewan picked up 72 points (21-51-72) and served 212 penalty minutes in just 46 games. His 51 assists tied him for the team lead while his 212 penalty minutes put him second on the club. Herauf skated four seasons in the SJHL, splitting time between the North Stars and Estevan Bruins. In 199 games played in the SJHL, Herauf amassed 218 points (68-150-218) and served 990 penalty minutes.

"I look forward to having both of these players in our camp," said Blazers head coach Doug Sauter. "Herauf is a highly touted prospect from the SJHL. I think he can have an impact on our club in his first season. Watson has a year of experience under his belt at this level and I'm looking for him to explode with offense this season."

The addition of Watson and Herauf brings the total number of players signed for the 2003-04 season to 12. He joins all-star Blair Manning, Bryan Forslund, Marty Standish, Ryan Campbell, Tim Laurila, Shane Fukushima, Justin Kot, Mike Lucci and goaltenders Boyd Ballard and Sean Connors.

The Blazers open their 12th training camp at the Blazers Ice Centre on Monday, October 6 at 10 a.m. The Blazers begin the regular season at home on Friday, October 17 against the defending CHL champion Memphis RiverKings.
