Motte Makes League Notice

For the second time this season, C.J. Motte has been named the United States Hockey League's Goaltender of the Week. Friday and Saturday, Motte anchored 3-1 and 4-1 road victories for Waterloo in Youngstown. Combined during the two games, he stopped 60 of 62 shots on goal. On the year, Motte has earned the winning decision in three-quarters of the Black Hawks' victories. He was also the league's Goalie of the Week on November 30th. Former Hawk Steve Racine also won the award this season on November 9th.

Road Trip Results

The Black Hawks spent the past two weekends away from home playing divisional rivals Team USA, Youngstown, and Indiana. In five games, Waterloo went 3-2-0 and gained a five-point-hold on fourth place in the Eastern Division. J.T. Brown led the Black Hawks in points during the trip, with two goals and five assists. Derek Arnold was the top goal-scorer with five, including a pair of game-winning goals. Arnold and Brock Montpetit each paced the team with +3 ratings. The road success brought Waterloo's overall record to.500 and put the Hawks at 10-11-2 within the Eastern Division, with seven divisional games remaining.

All the Right Moves

The Waterloo Black Hawks were busy at Saturday's trade deadline, acquiring three new players who could make their Hawk debuts at Young Arena this weekend. Forwards Nick Sorkin and Mario Puskarich were dealt to Sioux City and Tri City respectively, with goalie C.J. Groh going to St. Louis of the North American Hockey League. In return, Waterloo received goalie Willie Yanakeff, who had a 5-4-0 record in twelve games with the Musketeers, defenseman Andrew Panzarella, who has appeared in 143 USHL games for the Storm and Des Moines Buccaneers since 2007-2008, and forward Jon Puskar, who has 14 goals in 56 career games for the Lincoln Stars. Puskar is reunited with former teammate Jimmy Siers who the Hawks acquired in November.
