Indiana Ice News Release
INDIANAPOLIS- The Indiana Ice announced today that defenseman Anthony Bitetto has been named the USHL Defensive Player of the Week.
The future Northeastern defenseman earned the award after a record-setting game last Wednesday in Youngstown, OH as he became the first player in Ice franchise history to register five points in a game. He was a cog in all five Indiana goals in the 5-1 win over the Phantoms and finished the contest with two goals, three assists and a (+3) plus/minus.
Playing in his second USHL season, Bitetto enters this weekend's action tied for sixth among league defensemen with 25 points (7G, 18A) to go along with a (+10) plus/minus and a team-leading 75 penalty minutes.
The veteran defenseman becomes the third player to earn USHL weekly honors this year as goaltender Cab Morris was the league's top goaltender on two occasions and defenseman Nick Bailen earned Defensive Player of the Week back in November.
Bitetto and the rest of his Ice teammates play a pair of home games this weekend as Indiana hosts the Des Moines Buccaneers on Friday (2/12) and Saturday (2/13) at Pepsi Coliseum. Face-off is 7:05 pm both nights.
Tickets for Friday and Saturday's games and all home games start as low as $9 and can be purchased through Ticketmaster by calling 1-800-745-3000 or online at ticketmaster.com or by visiting Karma Records, the Pepsi Coliseum, or Conseco Fieldhouse box offices. For group tickets and more information, please call the Indiana Ice front office at (317) 925-4423. For all the latest on the Ice, visit www.indianaice.com.
