Storm's Mohler Is Headed To Bowling Green

KEARNEY, Neb. - Brett Mohler of the Tri-City Storm has committed to play for Bowling Green State University in the Fall of 2010. The forward will join Storm defenseman Michael Montrose as a Falcon next season.

Mohler, 6-foot-1 and 175 pounds, is in his first and only season with the Storm and has 10 goals and 21 assists in 43 games. The 20-year old has 13 points on the power play and has scored two short-handed goals this season.

"I felt that Bowling Green was a good fit for me as a student-athlete," said the native of Yorba Linda, California. "Their hockey facility was top of the line and the atmosphere was excellent."

"I liked the coaching staff at Bowling Green and felt they were honest with me in the recruiting process. I'm excited to be a member of the Bowling Green family next season."

Bowling Green State University is a NCAA Division I college hockey program that is located in Bowling Green, Ohio and competes in the Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA).

"(With the commitment to Bowling Green)... it takes a lot of pressure off of me and allows me to focus on the Storm rather than my plans for next year," Mohler said. "I'm thrilled to do what it takes to help Tri-City get back into the playoffs and compete for the Clark Cup."

Before joining the Storm, Mohler was a member of the BCHL's Alberni Valley Bulldogs last season, where he had 12 goals and 28 assists for a total 40 points in 55 games.

"We are proud of Brett and the way he has played this season for the Storm," said Head Coach/General Manager Drew Schoneck. "We know he has a bright future ahead of him at Bowling Green, and we look forward to his continued development this season with the Storm."

With Mohler's commitment, Tri-City now has 11 players who are committed to NCAA Division I schools. Tucker Brockett (Princeton University), Anthony DeCenzo (University of Vermont), Radoslav Illo (Bemidji State University), Nate Jensen (Mercyhurst College), Luke McManus (University of Minnesota-Duluth), Michael Montrose (Bowling Green State University), Cody Murphy (Miami University-Ohio), Rick Pinkston (Dartmouth College), Jaden Schwartz (Colorado College) and Maxwell Tardy (University of Minnesota-Duluth).
