"SILVER MEMORIES ON TV TONIGHT "Silver Memories," produced by WXXI, re-airs Tuesday, March 13 at 8 p.m. on WXXI-TV 21 (cable 11). Join Dan Mason, General Manager of the Rochester Red Wings, in studio to take a look at the history of professional baseball in Rochester. "Silver Memories" profiles the Red Wings from the 1920s through 1996, as well as the people who managed those teams. Babe Ruth is featured, making several exhibition game visits to Rochester. "Silver Memories" first aired in 1996 for the 25th reunion of the incredible 1971 Red Wings team that won the Governor's Cup. A number of players from that team are interviewed, including a utility player named Ron Shelton who would go on to make a "Bull Durham," the 1988 movie based on his minor league experiences in Rochester.

WINGS SPRING THINGS The Red Wings play Norfolk Thurs. March 15 in the first exhibition game of the pre-season....On Tuesday The Minnesota Twins optioned lefthanded pitcher Errol Simonitsch to Rochester, and lefthanded pitcher Jose Mijares to Double-A New Britain...On Monday Minnesota optioned LHP Ricky Barrett Rochester, LHP Alexander Smit to Single-A Ft. Myers and RHP Oswaldo Sosa to Double-A New Britain. Barrett has been out of action with an arm injury... The Twins also reassigned RHP Brad Voyles, catchers Jeff Christy, Korey Feiner and Jose Morales and infielder Gil Velazquez to Minor League camp.
