Washington Stealth 2012 Schedule Announced

Everett, Wash. - The National Lacrosse League announced today the schedule for its 26th season, which begins in January. The two-time defending Western Division Champion Washington Stealth will begin its 16-game schedule on Saturday, January 14 at the Comcast Arena at Everett.

Opening night at the Comcast Arena will feature a rematch of the 2011 NLL Western Division Final, as the Stealth plays host to the Calgary Roughnecks on January 14. It is the first of three meetings between the division rivals, two of which slated to take place in the friendly confines of the Comcast Arena.

In other interdivisional action, the Stealth faces the Minnesota Swarm three times, twice at home. The new-look Edmonton Rush visits the Comcast Arena on January 28 in the first of a home-and-home series between the two teams. The Stealth and Colorado Mammoth will also play twice in a back-to-back weekend on March 10 and 11.

The Stealth schedule also includes a heavy dose of Eastern Division opponents, highlighted by a home-and-home series with the Toronto Rock, which the Stealth has faced in each of the last two NLL Championship Games. The budding cross-continental rivalry began in 2010 when the Stealth won its first NLL Championship, but the Rock avenged that loss with a one-goal victory in the 2011 title game. The Stealth will travel to the Air Canada Centre on March 3 and then host the Rock at the Comcast Arena on April 20.

The Stealth will also travel to the East to play the Philadelphia Wings (January 21), Rochester Knighthawks (February 18) and Buffalo Bandits (February 4). The Bandits will visit the Comcast Arena for the regular season finale on April 28.

The 2012 Playoffs will begin on the weekend of May 5th. An announcement regarding the league's playoff format will be forthcoming at a later date.
