Minnesota Swarm Announce 2012 Season Schedule

SAINT PAUL, Minn. - The National Lacrosse League's (NLL) Minnesota Swarm today announced its schedule for the 2012 season. Minnesota will begin its eighth season of play in the NLL on Saturday, Jan. 14 on the road against the Colorado Mammoth at 8 p.m. CT. The Swarm will host the Buffalo Bandits on Treasure Island Field at Xcel Energy Center for its home opener on Saturday, Jan. 28 at 7 p.m. CT.

Minnesota's schedule will once again consist of 16 games - eight home games at Xcel Energy Center and eight road games. Opponents the Swarm faces in 2012 include: Buffalo (1H, 1A), Calgary (1H, 1A), Colorado (2H, 1A), Edmonton (1H, 1A), Philadelphia (1H, 1A), Rochester (1H, 1A), and Washington (1H, 2A).

The 2012 NLL Playoffs will begin on the weekend of May 5th. An announcement regarding the league's playoff format will be forthcoming at a later date.

Minnesota finished the 2011 season in second place in the West Division with an 8-8 record. The Swarm advanced to the postseason for the fifth time in franchise history, but fell to the Washington Stealth in the first round of the playoffs 14-8. The Swarm will return the NLL's leading goal scorer in 2012 in forward Ryan Benesch. The Kitchener, Ontario native captured the league's scoring crown after notching a career-high 95 points (46g, 49a).
