Washington Goaltending Prospect Adam Carlson Joins Stingrays

NORTH CHARLESTON, SC-Ahead of the start of the Eastern Conference Finals this evening, the South Carolina Stingrays announced today that they have signed goaltender Adam Carlson to an Amateur Tryout Agreement under emergency conditions.

Carlson, 22, signed a two-year, entry level deal with the Stingrays' National Hockey League (NHL) affiliate, the Washington Capitals, on March 28 after playing one season of college hockey at Mercyhurst College. Following his signing, Carlson reported to the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League (AHL), but has not seen any game action.

The 6-foot-3, 180-pound goaltender from Edina, Minn. went 7-7-3 during the 2015-16 season with Mercyhurst, posting a 2.85 goals-against average and a .919 save percentage. He also spent two seasons with the Coulee Region Chill of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) where he registered a 38-27-10 record in 81 games, posting a 2.52 goals-against average and a .926 save percentage.

Carlson has joined the Stingrays and will wear #29.

The best-of-seven Eastern Conference Finals series with the Wheeling Nailers starts this weekend on home ice and tickets start at just $13 at the North Charleston Coliseum Box Office. The puck drops at 7:05 p.m. for Game 1 tonight and Game 2 on Saturday.

Fans who have purchased Playoff Ticket Packages are to use Round 3, Game A tickets on Friday, and Round 3, Game B tickets for Saturday.
