Washington Glory Lose 4-3 To Chicago Bandits

CHANTILLY, VA -- Catalina Morris celebrated her 24th birthday with a three-run home run in the fifth inning to put the Glory within one, but the team couldn't take advantage of several opportunities, falling 4-3 to the Chicago Bandits Saturday night at Westfield High School.

Missed chances were the story for the Glory who stranded nine runners in the game and left runners in scoring poisition four times, including the seventh inning with one out.

The Glory's best chance came in the second when they had runner at second and third with one our but couldn't push anyone home.

Jamie Clark (1-for-3, 2 RBI, run) delivered her fourth home run of the season in the fourth inning and that was followed two batters later by Kristie Fox's (1-for-2, 2 RBI, run) second of the season. For Clark it was her second home run in as many nights against the Glory.

Morris' blast came courtesy of two Chicago errors in the fifth inning when Nicole Barber reached ona botched play by shortstop Clark. Two batters later, Courtney Bures hit a bouncer to Fox who booted the ball allowing Bures to reach. After Oli Keohohou popped otu, Morris smashed the first pitch over the centerfield fence just over the reach of centerfielder Lindsay Schutzler.

The Glory were visited by a team from Anchorage, Alaska, the Artic Storm. The Storm joined the team on the field before the game and spent time with the Glory following the game.

Taryne Mowatt fell to 0-3 in her professional career while Jessica Sallinger earned the win improving to 4-2 on the season. Jamie Southern earned her first save of the season for Chicago.

Sarah Pauly pitched 1 2/3 innings for the Glory and was dominant, striking out five while walking one. Pauly remains in second in the NPF in strikeouts with 63, nine behind Eileen Canney who struck out 10 in a New England victory over Chinese Taipei.

Game three of this four game series takes place Sunday night at 7:05 p.m. at the Westfield Softball Complex in Chantilly.
