
Warriors' Tracey Named WHL McSweeney's Player of the Month

Calgary, Alta. - The Western Hockey League announced today that 2019 NHL Draft prospect Brayden Tracey has been named the WHL McSweeney's Player of the Month for February 2019.
Tracey led the Moose Jaw Warriors and WHL in scoring during the calendar month, posting 26 points (12G-14A) and a plus-two rating in 13 games as the Warriors continued to rank third in the competitive East Division.
The rookie recorded points in 11 of 13 games, including eight multi-point efforts. His month began with a strong start as he scored the second hat trick of his WHL career while simultaneously recording the first four-point game of his WHL career. Tracey also had five three-point games and a pair of two-point games. He also had a pair of two-goal games in addition to his hat trick.
For the week ending February 24, 2019, Tracey was named the WHL On the Run Player of the Week and the CHL Player of the Week.
Tracey was twice named the first star of the game, once as the second star, and once as the third star. He was also recognized as the WHL's First Star of the Night once.
Leading the WHL and CHL in rookie scoring, Tracey has been an offensive force this season for the Warriors with 73 points (31G-42A) in 59 games. He has 11 power-play goals and 10 game-winning goals, leading the WHL in the latter statistical category.
The 6-foot-0, 174-pound product of Calgary, Alta. has appeared in 64 WHL regular season games, recording 75 points (31G-44A). He's also appeared in a pair of WHL Playoff games.
The 17-year-old was originally selected 21st overall by the Warriors in the 2016 WHL Bantam Draft. In NHL Central Scouting's midterm ranking, Tracey was ranked 73rd among North American skaters. Tracey has twice been recognized as the WHL Rookie of the Month, earning the honours for November and December 2018.
With nine games left in their regular season schedule, the Warriors' next challenge will come Friday, March 1 (7:00 p.m. CT) at Mosaic Place against the Lethbridge Hurricanes.
