Moose Jaw Warriors News Release
The Moose Jaw Warriors found themselves down early, and even though they battled hard throughout the game, they were not able to recover and fell 7-1 to the Lethbridge Hurricanes Wednesday at Mosaic Place.
Moose Jaw got into penalty problems at the start of the game, and the Hurricanes capitalized.
1:40 into the game the Hurricanes were working on the power-play and set up Dylan Cozens for a one-timer in the left Warriors circle that found the back of the net.
After the goal, the Warriors took another penalty to give the Hurricanes another man-advantage and that turned into an Oliver Okuliar goal 54 seconds later.
Lethbridge picked up another goal from Okuliar with less than three minutes left in the frame to take a 3-0.
In the second period, the Warriors got onto the scoreboard at 13:19 when Ryder Korczak handled the puck in the Lethbridge zone and then set up Cade Hayes on top of the crease where he scored his third of the year.
Moose Jaw's pressure created some momentum, however, the Hurricanes scored two goals, 24 seconds apart in the final minute of the second period to take a 5-1 lead into the second intermission.
Dylan Cozens scored another power-play goal for the Hurricanes eight minutes into the third and then Ty Nash added another with eight minutes left to add to their total.
Warriors goalie Brock Gould made 45 saves on 52 shots while Moose Jaw product and Hurricanes goalie Bryan Thomson made 23 saves.
Moose Jaw's busy schedule continues the weekend when they play three games in three days.
The action starts Friday with a trip to Swift Current, Saturday the Warriors and Broncos battle at Mosaic Place, and then on Sunday, the guys make the trip to Winnipeg for the first time this season.
Catch all the action on Country 100 starting Friday with the PreGame Show at 6:40pm.
