The idea for The Children's Museum, originally conceived by a local mother, took shape in December 2003. For six years, a group of local benefactors worked together to provide the groundwork for a facility that would inspire curiosity, stir the imagination, encourage active lifestyles and develop a lifelong love of learning. Since opening its doors to the public in 2009, The Children's Museum of the Upstate strives to empower all children to discover their full potential and expand their view of themselves and the world. The 18 interactive exhibits focus in the areas of arts, humanities, sciences, health and nutrition and the environment.
