
Ward Named Pitcher of the Week

Durham, NC- The Northern League has announced this week's Daktronics Pitcher of the Week and Lumberjacks lefty Chad Ward took home the honor for the week of June 3-9.
Ward pitched 13 innings picking up two wins, and did not give up an earned run all week, lowering his ERA to second best in the league at 1.11. Chad struck out 12 and walked none, while giving up only 6 hits.
"Chad has pitched great this season. He has demonstrated unbelievable command of all his pitches," stated Lumberjacks General Manager Curt Jacey.
This is the first time Ward has won the weekly award since 2000 when he posted similar numbers in the second week of the season.
The Lumberjacks return home this Friday, June 14 to take on the Berkshire Black Bears. Friday is Saratoga Baseball Night at East Field. The game will be preceded by a baseball clinic for kids at 5 PM, and the City of Saratoga Mayor Ken Klotz will throw out the first pitch.
