De la Cruz Named Player of the Week

Durham, NC- The Northern League of Professional Baseball announced today that Adirondack Lumberjack designated hitter Lorenzo de la Cruz is the Daktronics Player of the Week for the week ending on July 28. It is the first time that de la Cruz has received this award this season, the second time a Lumberjack has received it. OF Juan LeBron was also awarded the honor earlier this season.

De la Cruz, who was just recently named to the Northern League East All Star team, hit .480 this past week, nailing two home runs and driving in seven to compliment his two stolen bases for the week. On the season, de la Cruz is hitting .360, good for second in the Northern League East, and has bashed seven home runs, while collecting 47 RBI's.

"I am happy to see Lorenzo get recognized for his accomplishments. He's having a great season, and he is one of the guys who will be looked to lead this team into the playoffs," stated Jacks General Manager Curt Jacey.
