Adirondack Lumberjacks News Release
Glens Falls, NY- The Adirondack Lumberjacks, a proud member of the Northern League, announced today that catcher Travis Silver has decided to retire. The 23 year-old Old Dominion product informed the Lumberjacks of his decision following the Jacks 8-6 win over Brockton on Wednesday night.
Silver, who was originally signed as a non-drafted free agent by the Chicago Cubs in May of 2001, was acquired by Adirondack following his release from the Albany-Colonie (NY) Diamond Dogs earlier this season. Travis had hit .205 in twenty games this season, but had been solid defensively, teaming with catcher Brad Hargreaves to give the Lumberjacks the best defensive catching tandem in the Northern League.
Silver plans to return home to Weaverville, NC.
Fireworks Show Added! Friday, August 16's game against the Elmira Pioneers will be Glens Falls Hospital Employee Appreciation Night. A fireworks show will follow the game, courtesy of Angio Dynamics. Game time is 6 PM. For tickets, call the Lumberjacks Ticket Office at (518) 743-9618.
