Florida Fire Frogs News Release

CLEARWATER, Fla. - The Florida Fire Frogs tied Saturday night's contest against the Clearwater Threshers late, but could not come away with a victory in the rubber match of the three-game set to close out the six-game road trip. Florida finished the trip with a 2-4 mark against the Dunedin Blue Jays and Clearwater.

Jeremy Walker allowed just one unearned run through his seven innings of work in the finale. The right-hander allowed an RBI single to Jose Pujols in the first frame to put Florida (14-16, 43-53) behind by a run. Mickey Moniak scored from second after reaching the bag on an errant pickoff attempt by Walker.

The Fire Frogs' starter gave up a double to Kyle Martin to start the second, but set down the next 13 batters before Moniak's double with one out in the sixth. The product of Gardner-Webb tied a career-high with his seventh quality start of the season in the no-decision.

The Fire Frogs picked up two hits against Clearwater (15-12, 49-48) starter Adonis Media with two outs in the opening frame, but none of the next 19 batters reached base against the Philadelphia Phillies' second-ranked prospect (MLB.com).

Lucas Herbert (1x3, 2B, RBI) tied the game at a run apiece with a two-out double off the wall in right, plating Kevin Josephina (1x3, R) all the way from first to pull off the two-out rally against Grant Dyer (1-1).

Brandon White (1-2) hit Kevin Markham to start out the bottom of the eighth, and had the runner move up to second on a sacrifice bunt from Jose Gomez. After a lineout to left by Moniak, Henri Lartigue rolled an 0-1 pitch out to second. Josephina bobbled the ball in the right-field grass, and threw wildly to first, allowing Lartigue to score the go-ahead run.

Florida went down in order against Jakob Hernandez (SV, 2) to finish out the contest.

The Fire Frogs head back home to Osceola County Stadium after the league-wide off day on Sunday for game one of a seven-game home stand featuring a matchup against the Charlotte Stone Crabs. LHP Tucker Davidson (6-7, 4.11) takes the mound for Florida in game one, while it has yet to be announced who will oppose the left-hander for Charlotte. First pitch is set for 6:31 p.m., with coverage beginning at 6:15 with the Florida Fire Frogs Pregame Show on the Florida Fire Frogs Broadcasting network.
