Minot, ND - The Minotauros leading scorer Johnny Walker has committed to play his college hockey for the NCAA DI Arizona State Sun Devils. Walker has committed for the 2017/18 season and will have one year of junior remaining after this one.

In his third season with the Minotauros Walker has 10 goals and 8 assists through 11 games, his 10 goals and 18 total points lead the NAHL. His 32 career goals are the most by any Minotauro and his 62 career points are second all time in franchise history.

Walker said ASU "was my number one school, they're building something really special." Walker also said he "is excited to go home and play in front of his little brother who is his number one fan." He credits his family saying "my dad and step dad have been great" and he especially wanted to thank his mom "its been a long road, and she's helped me with more than just hockey." Walker was also quick to thank the coaching staff in Minot "after that first year Marty, Nige, and Lonks never stopped believing in me, without that this wouldn't be possible."

Tauros Head Coach and General Manager Marty Murray also referenced Walkers "up and down, mostly down" first year in which Walker played just 24 games registering 2 goals and 0 assists. Murray continued "its a great day for our franchise and Johnny, he is a great story."

Walker becomes the 13th Minotauro to commit to playing NCAA DI hockey. He will join former Minotauro Jake Clifford who is currently a freshman at Arizona State this season.
