SAN RAFAEL,Calif.- The Pacifics (2-3) got back in the win column Saturday night with an exciting walk-off win on Pittsburg Mettle pitcher Michaelangelo Gonzalez. Winning pitcher Dan Rogers relieved Chris Rice in the eighth and got six huge outs to preserve the 5-5 tie in route to his first win on the season.

Mike Orefice was tonight's hero going 2-5 on the night including a walk-off infield single to score Troy Zawadzki on a play at the plate. Chase Fontaine broke out of his early season slump in a big way, tallying four RBI's, three coming on home run in the second inning.

The Pittsburg Mettle struck first scoring one in the top of the first inning, thanks to a lead off double by Gergori Gonzalez to open the game. After the double, Pacifics starting pitcher Dany Mosquea went on to retire ten straight Mettle batters. The streak was broken up on an error by shortstop Evan Boyd. Mosquea would get out of the fourth inning unscathed racking up his fourth strikeout and forcing a ground ball to Boyd to end the inning.

Mosquea finished with a quality start tallying three earned runs, five hits, five strikeouts, and a no decision over six innings.

After a quick 1-2-3 first inning for Francisco Leon, the Pacifics bats came to life as they erupted for four runs in the bottom of the second, three coming on Chase Fontaine's opposite field blast to left field.

Chase Fontaine added to his RBI total in the fourth on a fielder's choice, beating out the throw to first for a potential double play.

The Pacifics third error of the game proved costly as Zawadzki mishandled a groundball allowing two to score for the Mettle, tying the game in the seventh.

In the bottom of the seventh the Pacifics loaded the bases, but Michaelangelo Guzman worked his way out of the jam striking out Johnny Woodard.

After a leadoff double in the eighth by Mettle's Mike Taylor, Dan Rogers entered the game for Chris Rice and retired the next three batters stranding Taylor at third. Rogers ran into some trouble in the ninth after allowing two runners to reach base, but left two stranded on his putout to first to end the inning.

In the ninth Zawadzki's lead off walk, Kiriakos' sac bunt, and Evan Boyd's double set the stage for Mike Orefice. On the sixth pitch of the at bat Orefice hit the ball up the middle which was fielded by the Mettle's second baseman Aaron Miles. With Zawadzki coming home Miles fired to the plate, but Zawadzki dodged the tag and was in safe for the winning run.

With the win the Pacifics moved to 2-3 on the season. The Pittsburg Mettle fell to 2-3 with the loss. The Pacifics return to action Tuesday night at 7:05 p.m. to face the Sonoma Stompers at Albert Park.
