ROSEMONT, Ill. - The Bandits pulled off a late game comeback in the sixth and seventh innings to defeat the Rebellion 3-2 and sweep Pennsylvania for the third time this season.

Catcher Taylor Edwards (1-1, 2 RBIs, 3 BBs) was tonight's hero with a home run in the sixth and a RBI walk in the seventh to win the game.

Michelle Gascoigne started in the circle for the Bandits against Dallas Escobedo for the Rebellion. Gascoigne allowed three hits and two runs in the complete game win to improve her record to 4-1.

"Mich pitched very well," Edwards said of her battery mate. "It's always the hardest day to pitch to the batters the third day, last game. Just staying in it, even after she gave up those two runs in the third inning and putting up zeroes after that was huge."

Gascoigne ran into some early trouble with two outs in the third. Cheyenne Cordes was hit by a pitch and scored on a Sarah Prezioso double that bounced off the centerfield wall. Mandy Ogle then batted in Prezioso with a base hit to give the Rebellion a 2-0 early lead.

Edwards cut the deficit to 2-1 with a bomb to the left field party deck for her third home run of the season to match her total from last year.

In the bottom of the seventh Escobedo was relieved by Emma Johnson (1H, 2 ER, 4BBs). Escobedo allowed 3 hits and a lone run in six innings of work. Johnson started the inning with a walk to A.J. Andrews who pinch-hit for Natalie Hernandez. Andrews stole second and scored the game-tying run on an Amber Patton (2-2, RBI) single to left. Patton advanced to second on the throw home from left field and would steal third on a wild pitch. Johnson then walked Tammy Williams (1-1, 2 RBIs) and intentionally walked Brittany Cervantes to load the bases. Edwards earned a walk to score Patton for the Bandits victory.

"I take that walk to heart," Edwards said. "We've [Johnson and Edwards] been battling ever since she got into the league. It's always been a fight whenever I'm in the box with her. I felt everybody in my hip pocket, just everybody zoned in and just ready."

The Bandits travel to Dallas on Thursday for a three game series with the Charge July 9-11.

The Bandits will return to Rosemont on Thursday, July 23 for the first of three games against the Dallas Charge at the Ballpark. Tickets for that series, and all remaining games in the 2015 season, are on sale now at www.chicagobandits.com.
