Lakeland ThunderBolts News Release
LAKELAND, Fla. â Wal-Mart and the Lakeland ThunderBolts have teamed up to bring football to underprivileged children in Polk County. Through the program "Angels of Thunder", Wal-Mart has donated two corporate boxes to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Lakeland for the June 11th game. This will bring football so close that they can feel it.
Big Brothers Big Sisters of America has been pairing volunteers with children for 100 years. In the Tampa Bay area, they have been providing mentoring services since 1969, now serving Hillsborough, Pasco, and Polk counties in Florida. Big Brothers Big Sisters has developed some of the most comprehensive mentoring programs in the nation. Big Brothers Big Sisters believes that they can strengthen the Polk County community by providing high-quality, life-enriching mentoring relationships between adult volunteers and children.
The volunteers of the Big Brothers Big Sisters program will get to "bring a little magic" to the children of Polk County on June 11. The ThunderBolts are thrilled to be able to assist in such a program.
