Wahoos Hold Open Batting Practice For Good Cause
August 19, 2013 - Southern League (SL1)
Pensacola Blue Wahoos News Release
The Pensacola Blue Wahoos are holding an open batting practice for all fans who want the Major League of experience hitting on the field at Pensacola Bayfront Stadium to help raise money for a seriously injured employee of one of the Wahoos loyal partners Ace Unlocks. Beginning at 4:00 p.m. and running until 7:00 p.m. today, August 19, those who wish to participate can make a $20 donation for 10 swings. There is no limit to how many swings hitters can purchase.
Earlier this year, JR Welch was seriously injured in a car accident while traveling with his fiancée and their young child. Though his family experience only minor injuries, Welch's were much more severe resulting high medical bills and the possible loss of his ability to use his hands. The Blue Wahoos are doing their part to raise money to assist Welch and his family, who do not have health insurance, with the growing medical expenses.
