
Elias placed on DL, Choi to Tacoma; Hobson, Proscia Added to Generals Roster

Mobile, Ala - The Seattle Mariners made the following roster moves today that affects the Jackson Generals roster prior to today's doubleheader against the Mobile BayBears.
- INF Ji-Man Choi promoted to AAA Tacoma
- RHP Roenis Elias placed on the 7-day DL (underwent appendectomy)
- INF Steven Proscia activated from A+ High Desert
- LHP Cam Hobson activated from A+ High Desert
CHOI, 22, has been promoted to Triple-A Tacoma which will be his third stop in 2013. Choi joined Jackson from A+ High Desert on June 3. In .270 (53x196) with 10 doubles, 3 triples, 9 home runs and 39 RBIs. Combined this season Choi is .302 (114x377) with 34 doubles, 6 triples, 16 home runs and 79 RBIs. Choi was signed as a non-drafted free agent in 2009 by Mariners out of South Korea.
ELIAS, 25, underwent an appendectomy on Saturday in Jackson and has been placed on the disabled list. Elias is 6-11 with a 3.18 ERA and 121 strikeouts this season in 22 starts and 130.0 innings. Elias ranks 7th in the Southern League in ERA and T-2nd in strikeouts. Elias was named a Southern League mid-season All-Star. He was signed as a non-drafted free agent by the Mariners in 2011 and is a native of Guantanamo, Cuba.
PROSCIA, 23, returns to Jackson from A+ High Desert. He was sent to High Desert on July 23 and since being with the Mavericks has batted .306 (26x85) with 8 doubles, a triple, 4 home runs and 18 RBIs in 21 games. In 74 games with Jackson Proscia was batting .202 (52x257) with 9 doubles, a triple, 7 home runs and 25 RBIs. He was Seattle's 7th round draft choice in 2011 out of the University of Virginia.
HOBSON, 24, joins the Generals from A+ High Desert and will join the rotation. Hobson was 5-9 with a 5.24 ERA in 23 starts and 115.0 innings pitched. Hobson has made 55 career starts in three professional seasons posting a career 19-21 record with a 4.92 ERA. During the month of July Hobson posted his best month notching a 2.60 ERA in 5 starts. Hobson was Seattle's 11th round selection in the 2011 draft out of the University of Dayton, where he is the single season strikeouts leader (83 in 2009). He is a native of Crawfordsville, IN.
