Vye shuts out Rocket, Cats win 4-0

Wendell Vye got his first QMJHL shut out as the Moncton Wildcats downed the PEI Rocket 4-0 on Friday night at the Civic Centre in Charlottetown. The win moved the Wildcats back in first place in the Atlantic Division.

After a scoreless first period, Andrew Roski scored for Moncton at 8:53, of the second, Mark Barberio got the assist. The Cats upped the count to 2-0 at 13:32 on Matt Brown's goal with Cameron and Barberio getting the helpers. Brandon Gormley with a power-play goal at 14:52 from Kabanov and Barberio made it 3-0 after 40 minutes.

In the third period, the Wildcats struck again with Randy Cameron scoring from Gormley at Kabanov at 7:51, the second power play goal of the game for Moncton.

Shots on goal favored the Wildcats 29-25. On the power play Moncton was 2 for 4, PEI 0 for 3.

Barberio was selected as the first star, Vye was star number two while Jimmy Oligny of the Rocket was the third star.

The Wildcats travel to Harbour Station in Saint John Saturday night at 7 to take on the Sea Dogs. Follow the action on News 91.9 or watch the game on the Telus webcast.
