VOYAGER SKID HITS THREE
The Voyagers lost their third straight to Missoula Sunday afternoon, as the Osprey came back from a 3-1 deficit to win 6-4. The Osprey collected 12 hits for the second time this series, scoring all but one of their runs in the sixth through eighth innings. Voyager starter Dane Stone tossed a quality start in a no decision, giving up two runs in six frames while collecting a career-high seven strikeouts before the bullpen surrendered the lead. A ninth-inning rally attempt fell short to send the Voyagers to their first three-game losing streak of 2014.
DOUBLE TROUBLE
Yesterday afternoon both Zach Stoner and Toby Thomas each went 2-4 with a pair of doubles in the loss. Hitting eighth and ninth respectively, the two put together back-to-back two-baggers in the ninth to close Great Falls back within a pair at 6-4. For both it was their first two extra-base hits of the 2014 campaign.
ROSTER MOVES
The White Sox announced a pair of roster moves Monday affecting the Voyagers roster. Righty Brad Salgado became the second Voyager to earn a promotion to Low-A Kannapolis this season, following lefty Jeff McKenzie who made the jump last week. Taking Salgado's place on the roster is southpaw Devon Davis. Davis made two scoreless appearances for the AZL White Sox prior to his move here to Great Falls, striking out a total of eight in three and two-thirds innings. Davis was signed as a free agent by the White Sox in May.
BULLPEN STRUGGLES
The last three nights have been a struggle for the Great Falls bullpen, surrendering a lead in all three games of this series to Missoula. In 11 innings of work so far in this series, the Voyager bullpen has allowed 11 runs (10 earned), 15 hits, and seven walks, allowing the Osprey to erase 3-0, 6-2, and 3-1 deficits.
