Vorberg, Rife Win Player of the Month Honors

MILWAUKEE (March 26, 2010) - Milwaukee Wave players Josh Rife and Nick Vorberg were named MISL Defensive Player of the Month and Goalkeeper of the Month, respectively, for March.

Rife scored 14 points (one three-point goal, five two-point goals and one assist) and blocked 10 shots as the Wave posted a 4-0 record in March on their way to the MISL regular-season title. Rife scored a hat trick in the regular season championship-clinching victory over Monterrey on March 14. He ended the season with 36 blocks, tying Pat Morris of Philadelphia for the league lead. He also added 28 points. Rife, this week's MISL Player of the Week, was also the December MISL Defender of the Month.

Vorberg, the January Goalkeeper of the Month, repeats in March after winning both his starts in this month, saving 31 of 42 shots as the Wave captured the MISL regular-season title. Vorberg won the regular season title-clinching game over Monterrey and gave up 22 points in the two starts. For the season, Vorberg finished with an 8-4 record and a league-best 9.48 points-allowed average.

The Associated Bank MISL Championship, presented by the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, kicks off at 5 p.m. Sunday, April 4 at the U.S. Cellular Arena. By virtue of clinching the regular season championship, the Wave (14-6) earned the right to host the one-game final against the victor of the semifinal round, featuring Baltimore and Monterrey. Those games will be played today and Monday.

In conjunction with the game, Milwaukee Wave of Hope is hosting a book drive. Bring new and gently used books to the game, and Wave of Hope will donate the books to America SCORES Milwaukee and the Next Door Foundation.
