New Orleans VooDoo News Release
NEW ORLEANS (March 3, 2011) - The New Orleans VooDoo released a total of nine players on Thursday afternoon, trimming the roster down to the league maximum of 24 players as the team eyes the Tampa Bay Storm on Friday, March 11.
The nine players released on Thursday afternoon were: DL Aaron Chavers, DB John Green, WR Derrick Lewis, LB Chris McNair, WR Chris Mitchell, OL Rudy Odom, OL Jason Phillips, OL Carnell Stewart and DL Stanley Wakwe.
"All of these cuts were tough - not a one of them was an easy decision by the coaching staff I can assure you," said head football coach Derek Stingley before practice on Thursday afternoon. "I'm confident in the decisions that were made, and our health will be a defining factor to our success, as it is always."
The VooDoo will practice Friday and Saturday before having an off day on Sunday. The team will also continue its preparation for its season opener versus the Tampa Bay Storm.
