PHILADELPHIA (March 3, 2011) - Today was the last day of practice for several Philadelphia Soul players as cuts will be made later this evening to bring the 35-man roster to 24 (21 active and three inactive.) The players that remain with the team will finish training camp tomorrow at the NovaCare Complex and continue to practice Monday in preparation for the team's first game at the Pittsburgh Power on Friday, March 11 at 8 p.m. on NFL Network.

DON'T GET MAD, GET EVANS: Defensive lineman Willie Evans (6-1, 260, Mississippi State) will be an Arena Football rookie, but has the needed experience from other professional leagues that will allow him to succeed at this level. He has spent time with the Saskatchewan Roughriders of the CFL (2009), and Atlanta Falcons (2008), Carolina Panthers (2007), New Orleans Saints (2007), and New York Giants (2006) of the NFL.

As a Bulldog, he started in 35 of 46 games and finished No. 3 in school history with 24.5 sacks for a loss of 145 yards and No. 3 all-time with 48.5 tackles for a loss of 211 yards. He recorded 219 tackles, five pass break ups, one interception, six forced fumbles, and two fumble recoveries during his collegiate career.

DID YOU KNOW Offensive lineman Darnell Whitely (6-6, 330, Waldorf College) has played on three different coach Hohensee led teams in the last three years, with the Soul (2011), Chicago Rush (2009), and Peoria Pirates of the af2 (2009).

QUOTE OF THE DAY: "Everything we've asked these guys to do, they've done. They have truly treated this camp professionally and I think we are truly going to reap the rewards. We have some quality football players and some quality men." - Mike Hohensee, head coach, on training camp overall and the final roster.
