New Orleans VooDoo News Release

The New Orleans VooDoo return to the radio airwaves on Sunday, May 25, when they face the Austin Wranglers at 3 p.m. CST, for the team's season finale at the New Orleans Arena. The game will not be carried on television; however it can be heard on WSMB 1350-AM, as well as on the first Spanish language broadcast this season, as part of an agreement with WFNO, LaFabulosa 830 AM.

Chris Kenyon, the voice of the VooDoo, will handle play-by-play for the WSMB broadcast, while New Orleans Saints Special Teams Coordinator Al Everest will serve as guest color analyst for the game. Everest possesses extensive knowledge of the indoor game as well as the 100-yard game, having served as offensive coordinator of the Arena Football League's San Antonio Force in 1992. Kaare Johnson will handle sideline duties for the broadcast.

The Spanish language broadcast can be heard on WFNO, LaFabulosa 830 AM, also the Spanish flagship radio station of New Orleans Saints. Marco Garcia and Hector Pineda, who handle the Saints broadcasts, will do play-by-play and color commentary. As part of an agreement between the VooDoo and the station, LaFabulosa will serve as the team's official Hispanic radio broadcast partner for the VooDoo's last home game and all 2004 post-season home games.

This is a very important game for the VooDoo as they try to improve their AFL playoff seeding. If the VooDoo defeat the Wranglers, they will clinch a home playoff game, which will be scheduled for Sunday, June 6 at 2 p.m.

With their record currently at 10-5, the VooDoo are involved in a tight playoff race on the road to Arena Bowl XVIII. Three playoff spots still remain open, with five teams, including Austin, competing for them on the final weekend of competition.
