Chicago Rush News Release
The Chicago Rush is looking for an inspired voice to sing the National Anthem prior to its Arena Football League quarterfinal playoff game on Sunday, June 6. To find the right person, the Rush is holding a National Anthem contest Saturday, June 5, at Allstate Arena, the team announced today.
Unlike the team's previous National Anthem contests, this year's contest is open to all Chicagoland singers, not just those 16 years and younger.
"The National Anthem contest is one of our more popular promotions," said Mike Polisky, Rush senior vice president/general manager. "We have found some singers with fantastic voices in the past, and our hope is to find our Chicago Rush idol."
All contestants must register in advance by calling Shawn Sullivan, Rush community relations manager, at (773) 243-3463. The deadline for registration is 4 p.m., Friday, June 4. On the morning of the contest all participants will have the opportunity to impress the Rush judges by singing their versions of The Star Spangled Banner at midfield. At the conclusion of the tryout one singer will be selected to perform the National Anthem prior kickoff on Sunday, June 6.
The contest will begin promptly at 8 a.m., with Allstate Arena doors opening at 7:30 a.m. Each contestant will receive two complimentary tickets to the quarterfinal game.
The Rush (11-4) will finish its regular season this Sunday when it travels to Denver for a 3 p.m. kickoff against John Elway's Colorado Crush (10-5). Fans in Chicago can watch the game on NBC 5, or listen to Rush announcers Tom Dore and John Jurkovic call all the action on 105.9 WCKG.
The 2004 Central Division champions will return to Allstate Arena to host an AFL quarterfinal playoff game Sunday, June 6, at 2 p.m. Fans wishing to purchase tickets to the game may order by calling Ticketmaster at (312) 559-1212, or by visiting the Ticketmaster Web site at www.ticketmaster.com. Tickets also may be purchased in person at any Ticketmaster outlet or the Allstate Arena box office.
For information about groups or playoff packages, fans should call the Rush at (877) RUSH-TIX (787-4849).
