New Orleans VooDoo News Release
NEW ORLEANS (April 13, 2011) - The New Orleans VooDoo made more roster moves on Wednesday evening, signing former wide receiver and local standout James Jordan and defensive lineman Jemelle Cage, while releasing wide receiver Derrick Lewis and placing wide receiver Hutch Gonzales on injured reserve.
Jordan, who played two seasons with the VooDoo prior, joins the team after a brief stint with the Bossier-Shreveport Battle Wings last season. The Kenner, La. native also played in the NFL with the San Francisco 49ers. The local standout prepped at Bonnabel High School, and played collegiately at Louisiana Tech.
Cage is also a former Louisiana Tech notable, having spent some of his time with all current former Bulldogs on the VooDoo roster. Cage was All-Western Athletic his senior season, also spending time in the NFL with the Washington Redskins and San Diego Chargers.
With the additions, the VooDoo now features four former Louisiana Tech Bulldogs: Moqut Ruffins, Jerron Wishom, Cage and Jordan.
