New Orleans VooDoo News Release
The New Orleans VooDoo have acquired OL/DL Louis Williams in a trade with the Tampa Bay Storm in exchange for DS Jeff Sanchez, the club announced today.
Williams (6-4, 285, LSU) in his second season in the AFL had started all seven games at center for the Storm in 2005, while recording 1.5 tackles defensively. In 2004, Williams was signed by the Storm at midseason and appeared in 10 games at the center position, recording three tackles and 0.5 tackles for a loss. Williams was originally drafted by the Carolina Panthers in the seventh round of the 2001 NFL Draft and was on the team's roster for most of the 2001 and 2002 seasons. Williams spent the entire 2003 season on Carolina's practice squad.
During his career at LSU, Williams started at five different positions on the offensive line. His senior year in 2000, he was named first-team All-SEC by the Associated Press and the Sports News after starting 11 games and contributing at right guard, left guard and center. Williams was a three-time SEC All-Academic Honor Roll choice with the Tigers.
