Montreal Juniors News Release
Montreal - The Drummondville Voltigeurs handled the Montreal Juniors with ease as they cruised to a 4 to 1 victory. Drummondville took the lead in the first period and never looked back as winger Ondrej Palat led the Voltigeurs with a goal and an assist in the victory.
In the first period, Drummondville's sniper Gabriel Dumont gave the Voltigeurs the lead as he scored his thirty-second of year 10:43 from Marc-Antoine Desnoyer and Remi Blanchard on the power play. Jonathan Brunelle tallied his nineteenth of year as he stretched the Voltigeurs lead at 8:46 of the second.
The Voltigeurs kept the scoring coming in the third. Goals from Ondrej Palat and Benoit Levesque extended the Voltigeurs lead to four goals. Yet, Juniors Trevor Parkes would break Jake Allen's shutout bid as Parkes fired home his twenty-first of year.
Juniors goalie Jean-Francois Berube was excellent between the pipes as he made 38/42 saves in the loss while former Montreal Junior goaltender, Jake Allen, stopped 23/24 stops for Drummondville in the win. Drummondville's record is now at 36-15-0-2 while Juniors record is at 24-23-2-3.
Montreal will now head north to Val-d'Or for the first part of a back-to-back series, which will be played on Tuesday. The Juniors will complete this series when they return to Montreal as they take on the Foreurs on Friday, February 12th, at 7:35PM. The Rouyn-Noranda Huskies will be in town Sunday, February 14th, at 4:05PM.
