KEIZER, OR - The Salem-Keizer Volcanoes, Class A affiliate of the San Francisco Giants have released their promotional schedule for the 2012 season, and fans will be very excited. With a lineup of new and fan-favorite promotions, the Volcanoes continue to provide fun, family friendly and affordable entertainment for everyone in the Willamette Valley . The season will feature a record ten (10) post-game Fireworks shows including after all seven (7) Friday night home games of the year (June 15, June 29, July 6, July 13, July 27 August 10, August 31) and additional post-game firework shows on Wednesday, July 4, Thursday, July 5, and Saturday, July 14.
The season begins with a pre-season game versus the College All Stars on Thursday, June 14th at Volcanoes Stadium - It will be Keizer Community Appreciation Night. Keizer residents can receive an outfield seat for just $5.00 for this game, a savings of $3.00 off normal day of game admission, by showing proof of residence - driver's license, utility bill, etc! The game will also feature the first of six $1.00 Thursday Nights where selected adult beverages are just $1.00 during the game in the Stadium's Lava Lodge Sports Pub. 2012 SEASON OPENING NIGHT - Friday, June 15th. There is always something very special about OPENING NIGHT in baseball, and this year will be no exception. The Volcanoes will open their 2012 season on Friday, June 15th, against the Boise Hawks, affiliate of the Chicago Cubs in a five-game homestand . Meet the 2012 Volcanoes Manager, Coaches, Trainer, Strength Coach and Players as they will introduce themselves on-the-field prior to the game. It is rumored that RoofMan will visit Volcanoes Stadium Opening Night. It will also be our first post-game FIREWORKS SPECTACULAR as is sponsored by Blue Diamond Hazelnuts. Saturday, June 16th, is AWESOME 3000 NIGHT, and all kids wearing their 2012 Awesome 3000 T-Shirt will be admitted FREE, and be able to go on the field to meet the Volcanoes prior to the game (must arrive by 6:15 PM to meet the Volcanoes players)! It is also McNary High School 2012 Graduates Night, and we will acknowledge our tremendous young men and women who just graduated from McNary High School. On Sunday, June 17th, it is Father's Day at Volcanoes Stadium, and DAD is going to be treated very well. A Father's Day Breakfast will be served from 9:00 am to noon in the Stadium's Lava Lodge Sports Pub, it is just $8.00 for adults, and $6.00 for kids. Menu includes ham, eggs, bacon, biscuits and gravy, and the chef's special baked banana nut French toast. Coffee and juice is also included. Mimosas, champagne, wine & beer will also be available. DAD, and his children will have the opportunity to compete in various free interactive games and have the chance to go on-the-field to play catch! Father's Day Game - the gates will reopen at 4pm as the Volcanoes will take on the Boise Hawks in a special Father's Day game time beginning at 5:05pm. Monday, June 18th - Exciting Northwest League Baseball action continues with the Boise Hawks in game 4 of the 5-game homestand, and it is our first of five Kids Night at Volcanoes Stadium where kids 12 and under may e-mail Volcanoes owner, Jerry Walker, at jwalker@volcanoesbaseball.com, and request a FREE ticket to this game. Wednesday, July 4th - The Volcanoes third homestand kicks off as the Volcanoes play the Vancouver Canadians, affiliate of the Toronto Blue Jays. The game features the beginning of the Volcanoes' three-day Patriotic Tribute at Volcanoes Stadium. Yes, we will be Thanking, Honoring and Saluting 86 outstanding, brave men and women of our Armed Forces from World War II, Korea, Vietnam, Europe and the Middle-East. Major General Raymond Rees, the Oregon National Guard Adjutant General will be here along with Pearl Harbor survivor, Virgil Taylor, General Eisenhower's body guard from 1944, PFC Jim Rumelhart, Pol Pot's Kymer Rouge Genocide survivor, Kilong Ung, and many, many more dignitaries. We will also have a very special ceremony for "Fallen Soldier" Oregon Army National Guard Specialist Taylor Marks with his family present. Also an F-15 Flyover from the 142nd Fighter Wing in Portland is scheduled. Wednesday's game is sponsored by PT Northwest . A spectacular FIREWORKS SHOW will follow the game sponsored by PT Northwest. Thursday, July 5th -- The Volcanoes continue their three-game series with the Vancouver Canadians, and it is the second night of our 5th Annual Patriotic Tribute at Volcanoes Stadium. Thursday will feature our brave, wonderful Native American Veterans - past and present - who have helped defend our Freedoms since George Washington's era. A very formal Ceremony will begin at 5:15 in front of the stadium as a Caisson with a Flag-draped casket will be in place. A Drum Group from The Confederated Tribes of the Grand Ronde will play for five minutes, and then the Oregon State Defense Force Bagpipe Band will pipe "Amazing Grace". The Grand Ronde Honor Guard will then take the Flag-draped casket into the stadium, and place it in a Teepee encircled with American Flags. This Ceremony will represent the Thanking, Honoring and Saluting of all Native American Veterans who have served and passed into the "Arms of GOD". A pre-game Ceremony at home plate will Honor the memory of Veteran and longtime Elder of the Confederated Tribes of the Grand Ronde, Marce Norwest, who recently passed, with his family present. Also, many more Active Duty and Veterans from World War II, Korea, Vietnam and the Middle East will be Honored during the game. Pre-registered Scouts will have the opportunity to campout after the game in the Stadium's outfield and enjoy a movie on the Stadium's jumbotron, receive a late night snack, and a breakfast the next morning. To register, Scouts need to call 503-390-2225 - open to all scouts: Boy Scouts, Cub Scouts, Girl Scouts, Campfire etc., and their parents and/or scout leaders, and PT Northwest will present a spectacular post-game Fireworks show . Sunday, July 29th - The Volcanoes conclude their three-game homestand with the Eugene Emeralds, and it is the last time the Emeralds will be at Volcanoes Stadium during the regular season. It is Kid's FREE Youth Baseball Clinic Day sponsored by Dick's Sporting Goods. All kids, with a ticket to this game, will be invited to a free baseball clinic with the Volcanoes players on-the-field prior to the game from 3:00pm to 4:00pm. It will also be a Salute to the Portland Beavers Night. The evening is dedicated to recognizing the meaningful impact the Portland Beavers have had on the area. The Beavers were the big story in Portland for nearly 7 decades. They played in much revered Vaughn Street Park through the 1955 season and moved to Multnomah Stadium in 1956. The 1956 day-night opener in the Stadium drew nearly 34,000 fans. September 2010, the team won their final game at PGE Park in front of a sellout crowd of just under 16,000 supporters.
