Vizcaino's RBI Double Lifts D-Braves over Burlington

DANVILLE, Va. - After surrendering an early 2-0 lead, the Danville Braves scored four unanswered runs to overcame the Burlington Royals 4-2 on Monday night at Legion Field.

The D-Braves cut the lead to 2-1 in the bottom of the second inning. After Brett Langhorne reached with a double, Ricardo Rodriguez moved him to third on a fielder's choice to the left side of the infield. Two batters later, Nicholas Vizcaino brought in Langhorne with a one-out force out, edging out the attempted double play by a step.

Danville tied and took the lead in the bottom half of the fourth. With runners at first and third and one out, the D-Braves brought home Langhorne with a passed ball, knotting the game at 2-2. Vizcaino the roped a double down the line in left, bringing in Rodriguez, and handing Danville a 3-2 lead.

The Braves extended their lead in the bottom of the fifth off a CJ Alexander RBI triple. The triple was Alexander's team-leading fourth of the season and contributed to his 2-for-4 evening.

Jose Montilla settled in nicely after opening the series by surrendering a run in each of his first two innings of work. The right-handed product of Neyba, Dominican Republic finished his outing with four innings pitched, allowing five hits and two earned with a season-high four walks.

Danville's relief pitching posted five innings of shutout baseball to secure the D-Braves 10th win in its last 14 games.

Zach Seipel earned his third win of the year with two scoreless innings of relief. The right hander struck out three Royals and lowered his ERA to 2.70. Connor Simmons saved the game for the D-Braves, his second. The Waycross, Georgia native went three innings, allowing three hits but punching out a pair.

The D-Braves will continue its three-game set against Burlington tomorrow at Legion Field. First pitch is set for 7 p.m.
