The Calgary Vipers welcome Hall of Famer Gary Carter and his Orange County Flyers to Foothills Stadium for a four game series starting tonight, Monday August 18th at 7:05 PM (MDT). Carter, who manages the Flyers will also be in town for games Tuesday August 19th, Wednesday August 20th, and Thursday August 21st all starting at 7:05 PM (MDT). This is the first time the Flyers have ever played in Calgary.

The Snakes also welcome two new faces to the roster in former big leaguer Mac Suzuki and AAA veteran Demond Smith.

Suzuki pitched in 117 Major League games from 1996 to 2002 and posted a 16-31 record with a 5.72 E.R.A. He made appearances for Seattle, Kansas City, and Milwaukee and struck out 327 batters in 465.2 innings. This season Suzuki had been playing down in the Mexican AAA league.

Smith is a speedy outfielder who played in just under 100 games at the AAA level and was selected in the sixth round of the 1990 entry draft. Over the past eight season, including earlier this year, Smith has played at the AAA level down in the Mexican league. Last season Smith finished off the year with the Winnipeg Goldeyes where he hit .391 in 22 games. In his 18 year career Demond has stolen 557 bags.
