Vipers Release 2009 Schedule

Huntsville, AL- The af2's 10th anniversary schedule has been announced, and the 2009 regular season will begin on Friday, March 20th as the Tri-Cities Fever will take on the Central Valley Coyotes. The Vipers will get set to defend their ArenaCup Championship on Saturday, March 28th as they will travel to take on the Green Bay Blizzard in Week One.

Last season, the Vipers began the season losing their first three games, before winning a season high seven in a row. The Vipers eventually went on to capture the franchise's first af2 Championship with a 56-55 overtime victory over the heavily favored Spokane Shock.

The 2009 schedule will see the Vipers play 14 of their 16 regular season games against playoff teams from 2008, and will welcome the 2007 ArenaCup Champion Tulsa Talons to Huntsville on June 27th. The Vipers will also make a return trip to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, Pennsylvania on May 30th to take on the Pioneers, who the Vipers defeated last season to advance to the American Conference Championship game against the Manchester Wolves.

The Vipers will also welcome a new member to the American Conference South Division. The Lexington Horesemen will join the division, and replace the Daytona Beach Thunderbirds who will not return to the af2 in 2009.
