Amarillo Venom News Release
Amarillo, TX (11/12/08) - It didn't take long for new Dusters Head Coach Ben Bennett to start signing players for the 2009 arenafootball2 season.
Just weeks after being hired to be the Dusters' front man, Bennett re-signed Craig Fulton, Jr., and inked John King, formerly of the Lubbock Renegades.
Fulton has been with the Dusters since their inception in 2004. The fan-favorite played in ten regular-season games last season, making 68 catches and scoring ten touchdowns receiving. Fulton, Jr. was injured twice last season, yet still managed to rank second on the team with 632 receiving yards and 63.2 yards per game.
In addition, the four-year veteran was second on the team in rushing touchdowns with nine and was the leading kick returner on the Dusters, averaging 21.1 yards per return. The 5'11", 185-pound North Carolina native also had one interception on defense in 2008, and scored five total touchdowns in three playoff games.
King was Lubbock's second-leading receiver in 2008, with 43 receptions and 565 yards in eleven games. He caught ten touchdowns last season, adding one rushing touchdown.
The two receivers mark the first signings under Ben Bennett's reign. Bennett and the Dusters will be holding open tryouts on November 22nd, beginning at 10:00 AM at John Stiff Park. For more information on the open tryouts, please contact the Dusters' front offices at (806) 355-PASS (7277).
