Calgary Vipers News Release
The Calgary Vipers took advantage of a break in their schedule today to give back to their community as they visited four local elementary schools. The team spilt up into groups and attended St. Bernadette, Pineridge, Blessed Kateri Tekakwitha, and St. Dominic. Players were also spotted at the Calgary Zoo as well as a local Safeway supporting "Prostate Cancer Awareness".
Students had the pleasure of getting autographs as well as asking questions about the Vipers. A special coloring contest including Slider the Vipers Mascot was introduced and complementary tickets were presented to all students for the June 28th matinee contest vs. the Tucson Toros.
Vice-Principal Gwen Raymundo of Blessed Kateri Tekakwitha school shared her thoughts, "The Viper players were very well received by the students & they even gave them a throwing & hitting clinic, they made a lot of fans today!"
Vipers Manager Morgan Burkhart also saw the positives, "From a coaching stand point I love to see the players interacting in the community & they enjoyed the day very much. We'd like to invite everyone to the ball park next week for our upcoming home stand."
Calgary returns to game action on Tuesday June 23rd at 7:05 PM MDT as they open a seven-games-in-six-days home stand against the Victoria Seals. Starting on Friday June 26th at 7:05 PM MDT the Snakes will welcome the Tucson Toros for their first visit of the year.
