Calgary Vipers News Release
The Calgary Vipers rode seven and a third innings of excellent pitching from Joe Sergent en route to a 9-1 victory over the Orange County Flyers at Goodwin Field in Fullerton, California. Sergent, who picked up his third win of the post season, dominated the Flyers with eight strikeouts and had a two hit shutout before starting the eighth inning. With the victory the Vipers tied the Golden Baseball League's Championship series at two games a piece.
The Vipers' bats also did some damage, as Richard Austin was three for three with two RBI and three runs scored, while Kit Pellow was three for five with a pair of RBI.
The game slowly slipped away from Orange County, who committed five errors in the ball game, but only managed one run of support.
Mike Natale was saddled with the loss after four and two thirds innings of work for his first post season loss.
A Fifth and deciding game of the Golden Baseball League's Championship Series will be played at Goodwin Field in Fullerton, California on Sunday September 14th at 7:05 PM (MDT).
