Orange County Flyers News Release

The Calgary Vipers rode seven and a third innings of excellent pitching from Joe Sergent en route to a 9-1 victory over the Orange County Flyers to tie the GBL Championship series at two games a piece.

Sergent, who picked up his third win of the post season, dominated the Flyers with eight strikeouts and had a two hit shutout before starting the eighth inning.

The Vipers' bats also did some damage, as Richard Austin was three for three with two RBI and three runs scored, while Kit Pellow was three for five with a pair of RBI.

The game slowly slipped away from Orange County, who committed five errors in the ball game, but only managed one run of support.

Mike Natale was saddled with the loss after four and two thirds innings of work for his first post season loss.

The deciding game five will be back at Goodwin Field at 6:05 Sunday night.
