Vipers Cut Legends' Comeback Short

FRISCO, TX - The Texas Legends (2-6) had their comeback efforts cut short by the Rio Grande Valley Vipers (5-2) 114-123.
AJ Lawson grabbed the first basket for the Legends, but the home team answered with a 13-0 run and led 30-20 at the end of the quarter. The Vipers took their largest lead of the night (+19) in the second behind a 24-point combined performance from Jarrett Culver and Jalen Lecque. After trailing by 17 in the third, the Legends pulled within seven two minutes into the fourth. The visitors repeatedly chipped away to bring the gap to single digits, but the Vipers shut it down every time, sealing the victory on their home court.
Dexter Dennis led the Legends with a season-high 23 points, 11 rebounds. Justin Jackson grabbed 21 points, 6 rebounds, and 2 blocks off the bench, and Greg Brown III added 20 points, 13 rebounds, and a game-high 4 blocks. Lawson finished with 19 points, 7 rebounds, and Jelly Walker contributed 13 points, 4 assists.
Culver led all scorers with 33 points, 6 rebounds, and 2 assists for the Vipers while Darius Days added 29 points, 9 rebounds. Lecque tagged on 22 points and Ray Spalding rounded out the double figures with 20 points, 8 rebounds, and 5 assists.
